My friend won a free session to the Boot Camp Challenge and begged me to attend the six-week session with her. Reluctantly and with much trepidation, I agreed that I would join her. I felt that these “Boot Camps” were targeted for a much younger generation. I am a 58 year old, slightly out of shape, woman that hadn’t exercised in years. The big question was “Could I keep up with the Group?”

At the first meeting, we meet our Drill Instructor, Jennifer Kaatz, who took our body measurements. Soon, we were doing push-ups, lunges, sit-ups, squats, running, skipping and a whole lot of sweating. During the first meeting, it was hard for me to complete the whole session with the group. I think I was only able to do fifteen jumping jacks without stopping for a breather. But, for me, giving up wasn’t an option.

At each session, Jen gives us nutrition and diet tips and I have gained so much knowledge about the correct foods to eat. I am tracking my diet and weight on the website and aware of everything that I’m eating. Before, I was ignorant of the amount of “bad” food that I was stuffing into my mouth. Now, an Orowheat Double Bran muffin and Laughing Cow Cheese tastes like a Snickers bar. 

It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve been in the Boot Camp Challenge and I’m can complete the entire session without resting, I feel 100% better than I did before I started the class, can do jumping jacks for an entire minute, and have added three mile walk into my daily routine. 

My depression, which had been extremely bad, is completely gone, my energy level is higher, and I’m sleeping at night. My husband says that I’m losing my love handles around my waist and I am. I looked okay, before but now I’m looking great, plus I’ve got a smile on my face. I’m even cooking for my husband again.

When I tell someone that I’ve joined a boot camp, the first thing that comes out of their mouths is that they “ Wouldn’t like anyone yelling at them!” Jen is not that kind of drill sergeant; she makes the class fun and is so encouraging. She also shows the exercises in modifications so that if I’m not able to do an exercise I have an alternative. The session goes by so fast that it doesn’t even seem like I’ve been there a hour. I am so looking forward to the next session.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Jen and boot camp. I did the Courage Classic bike ride for the 5th year, this past weekend. It is 157 miles in 3 days, over some major mountain passes. I was so much stronger this year and I owe it all to boot camp! I was breathing better and was more balanced. I could feel my quads working hard (still under some extra layers but I knew they were there).
Jen has been so encouraging and fun to work with - I'm already looking forward to what I can accomplish next year!

I thoroughly would recommend "Boot Camp Challenge".I attended at my local Englewood Recreation Centre.I signed up for their 6 week course in October (3 days per week) and have seen great results.In that period my body fat decreased considerably and I lost several inches everywhere. I've been so impressed that I have signed up for their intensive pre Christmas (5 day a week) 3 week workout. I really want to keep the momentum up, now that I am seeing some real changes occurring. I have had a desk job for so long that I slowly began gaining weight, but never seemed to be able to reverse it in any meaningful way.So I knew I had to hit it with something that worked me out well for an hour and was a regular workout. This has been such a great kick start. Our trainer James was very knowledgeable and keen for us to obtain our goals, but also very mindful of doing this safely and without injury. His attitude was very positive which encouraged us all. We also watched our nutrition whilst on the course,so that we could get the best benefits out of each class. James was very helpful and knowledgeable in this area too. In general, the class was a lot of fun and I felt great after each workout knowing I had accomplished it early in the morning and could get on with my day ahead.No excuses! I had no problem with the early start because I am used to getting up at 5am or so. In any event I really wanted to focus on the course and give it my all. So I'd say, do yourself a favor by investing in your health. You won't be disappointed. Boot Camp Challenge is a great place to start. They are a great team. Enjoy!

BCC has become an essential part of my life! When I started BCC, back in April, I had not worked out on a regular basis for 6 years. I had arthritis in my knees and wasn't sure if this would be good for them or not. I can tell you that not only has my knee pain gone away, I am far stronger than I was back in April. I can do even normal things better - for example, I travel frequently and I have always had problems lifting my carry-on into the overhead compartment. I usually had to have someone take pity on me and put it up there for me. Now I can do it myself! I can also lug my luggage around airports with greater ease. I feel better, sleep better and if I need to miss a class, I really miss it. BCC has definitely improved my ability to get through day to day challenges as well as my self image. I work hard in this class, but I feel so good when I am done!

I love my Boot Camp class! It is a great way to get in-shape, loose wt. and have a blast doing it. Every class if different so you don't get 'bored.' Our teacher is fun, enthusiastic, encouraging and creative. Although she WILL push you, it is never in a cruel way. It is fun to have someone supporting you and cheering you on--all the while encouraging you to do your best. I find I work out much harder while in the class than I do on my own. I highly recommend this class to all people of all levels on fitness--you will love it!
